abstract = "This paper assesses the data flow control strategy of the substation secondary communication system based on the Architecture of Secondary Substation System. The data flow control method includes (i) design the data flow control strategy and (ii) data flow performance evaluation and assessment. The OPNET modeler is employed to simulate the performance of data flow control methods. These methods are applied to a typical 400kV Double Busbar substation to regulate the data flow in process bus and station bus respectively. Finally, the capability of the separated process bus and station bus are quantified and the latency performance is analyzed. The simulation results show that the interoperability of different communication applications has been enhanced significantly using the proposed methods. Furthermore, these methods address the data traffic stream management in the congestion or fault operations in terms of station bus level and process bus level separately. The results can be employed for the analysis of the data flow management and the design of the architecture of secondary substation system for the system integrators.",
