Abstract

In this paper, we propose a dynamic congestion control framework for a Differentiated Services domain that improves the resource efficiency and the stringency of the provided QoS guarantees. A new logical concept of Congestion Control Center (CCC) is given out to support this framework. CCC may have the overall topology information for the domain from Bandwidth Broker (BB). This framework enables the interior nodes to monitor the congestion and report it back to the CCC nodes and then the ingress nodes to appropriately adjust their traffic conditioning function to follow the dynamics of the domain. Our proposal is consistent with the notion of delegating the intelligence to the edges of a network domain.
