Abstract

The performance of TCP Reno and TCP Vegas in wireless mobile environment was investigated and evaluated. The effect of TCP maximum window size window, which is the limit of the real transmission window size in a TCP connection, was analyzed. TCP Reno reported worse throughput performance than Vegas. The results showed that the maximum window size in Reno TCP should be reduced to address the problem of exposed station and intermediated node failure. The good-put performance is best with maximum window size around 4, for both two TCP variants.
