Abstract
This paper proposes a dual-band antenna with an Artificial Magnetic Conductor (AMC) array as a reflector for WBAN applications. This antenna functions at 2.45 GHz and 5.8 GHz. Through the use of the AMC array gain enhancement is achieved from 2.29 to 7.06 dBi and 3.39 to 5.94 dBi, at each frequency respectively. Radiation patterns also show how the AMC helps to direct radiation away from the body at both desired frequencies. Fabrication of the antenna and practical measurements show good agreement with simulation results, demonstrating its potential suitability for WBAN applications.
