Abstract

This paper proposes a design for a planar four-element patch array antenna for 5G applications. Rogers RT 5880 is used as the substrate with a permittivity of 2.2. The size of the proposed antenna is 60.51 × 41 × 0.79 mm3. A partially slotted ground plane and symmetrical rectangular and semicircle slots are applied in the designed antenna to improve bandwidth. Simulation results show the proposed antenna has a resonance frequency at 28 GHz, a bandwidth of 1.43 GHz and a maximum realised gain of 8.33 dBi.
