Abstract

Under the partial shading conditions (PSC), the characteristics of PV arrays show multiple maximum power points (MPPs). Conventional global maximum power point tracking (GMPPT) method generally assume all peaks approximatively locating at the multiple of 0.8V-{\mathrm {o}c}. However, it has been proven it is not really accurate. In this paper, an explicit expression of modified voltage lines for the multiple MPPs is derived, which is more accurate than the 0.8V-{\mathrm {o}c} model. Based on the modified voltage lines, a novel power incremental GMPPT method is proposed. The searching area can be gradually reduced by an incremental power line.
