Description
This study aims to conduct a comprehensive assessment to estimate the vocabulary knowledge of XJTLU students concerning the 3,000 most frequent Spanish words by level, and to track the vocabulary growth between these levels. Such an assessment is crucial because these words account for over 95% coverage of spoken language. Additionally, the study also seeks to evaluate the use of vocabulary learning strategies (VLSs) by XJTLU students, as these strategies are believed to correlate with vocabulary knowledge.
This comprehensive evaluation of frequent vocabulary knowledge and strategy use is key to enhancing the Spanish curriculum at XJTLU. It aims to improve vocabulary instruction and give vocabulary frequency a more significant role in the future curriculum. Essentially, this study seeks to collect vital data to support the future integration of a vocabulary-focused syllabus at our university.
