Dr. Zhongshuo CHEN is an Assistant Professor at the School of Intelligent Finance and Business, Entrepreneur College, Xi’an-Jiaotong-Liverpool University. He obtained his Bachelor of Management degree in Logistics Management from Dalian Maritime University (DMU) and his Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Maritime Studies from Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore. Prior to joining XJTLU, he worked as a Senior Consultant at Maritime Advisory SEAPI of DNV.
Dr. Chen’s research interests include maritime decarbonisation, sustainable shipping, alternative marine fuels, life cycle assessment, ship emissions, machine learning, etc. His papers were published in top-tier transportation and engineering journals, such as Transportation Research Part D: Transport and Environment (TRD), Ocean Engineering, Engineering Applications of Artificial Intelligence (EAAI), etc.
Dr. Chen serves as a committee member of the Committee of Youth Scientific & Technological Professional, China Communications and Transportation Association (中国交通运输协会青科委). He also serves as a youth member of the technical committee of the World Transport Convention (世界交通运输大会). Dr. Chen holds the membership of several international, regional and national associations, such as International Association of Maritime Economists, Asia Pacific Neural Network Society, Systems Engineering Society of China (中国系统工程学会), China Intelligent Transportation Association (中国智能交通协会), Chinese Society of Optimization, Overall Planning and Economic Mathematics (中国优选法统筹法与经济数学研究会), Singapore Chamber of Maritime Arbitration, etc.
Dr. Chen serves as the managing guest editor of Transportation Research Part D: Transport and Environment. He also serves as an editorial board member of a few academic journals such as Digital Transportation and Safety and Journal of Highway and Transportation Research and Development. Dr. Chen has served as the session chair for ICONIP2023, programme committee member for ICONIP2024, and international scientific committee for IAME2025. He is also the reviewer for leading journals such as TRD, Information Fusion, EAAI, Transport Policy, Ocean & Coastal Management, International Journal of Hydrogen Energy, Computers & Electrical Engineering, and others. He is also the recipient of several awards and scholarships, including Nanyang Award, NTU RSS, etc.
