Personal profile

Yang Li (PhD, Newcastle University, UK) is a sociologist and visual studies researcher. She is currently working as an Assistant Professor in School of Film and TV Arts, teaching the final year project and the courses on the studies of cultural and creative industries. Her research interests include cultural (heritage) studies, East Asian cinematic and visual representations, gender and ethnicity in images, space and exhibition, and postcolonial and subaltern studies. She has also previously taught and conducted research at Newcastle University, Northumbria University and Tongji University respectively. At the same time, She has worked in several film/arts festivals over international sphere in past few years, and has published the research works in some academic journals, such as Visual Studies, Feminist Media Studies and Quarterly Review of Film and Video.
