Personal profile

Dr. Gengyang Tu is an Assistant Professor in Economics whose work bridges economic theory with real-world sustainability challenges. After earning his PhD in Economics from AgroParisTech, University of Paris-Saclay, he enriched his research through academic visits to the University of Copenhagen and Umeå University. His professional journey includes postdoctoral work at Grenoble School of Management, followed by research fellowships at the University of Exeter and University of Bretagne-Loire. He maintains active collaborations as an Honorary Senior Research Fellow at the University of Exeter.

As an experienced contributor to EU research initiatives, Gengyang has led work packages and served as a key contributor to major European projects including Horizon 2020 and European Regional Development Fund initiatives. His research explores crucial questions at the intersection of human behavior, technology adoption, and environmental sustainability: What drives the adoption of energy-efficient and eHealth technologies? How do socioeconomic inequalities affect health outcomes? What connections exist between residential choices and ecosystem services?Recently, he has expanded his research portfolio to include corporate social responsibility (CSR), examining its intersections with sustainable development and economic behavior.

Gengyang has published his findings in prestigious journals including Technological Forecasting and Social ChangeEcological Economics, and Energy Economics. His empirically grounded approach brings fresh insights to sustainability economics and policy.
