Personal profile
Denis Tramonte majored in Physics at the University of Padua (Italy), where he obtained both his Bachelors (2011) and Master (2013) degrees; in parallel he was a selected student at the Galilean School of Higher Education (SGSS, Italy), which granted him an additional Elite University Diploma in 2014. He then began his research at the Canary Islands Institute of Astrophysics (IAC) in Tenerife, Spain, where he obtained his PhD from the University of La Laguna in 2017. He was later a Claude-Leon Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN, South Africa) and a CAS-PIFI Postdoctoral Fellow at the Purple Mountain Observatory (PMO) in Nanjing, China. He has joined the Department of Physics at XJTLU in 2023 as an Assistant Professor. Deniss main research interest is observational cosmology. His work targets the relationship between the large scale distribution of the (invisible) dark matter in the Universe, and the cosmic structures made of (visible) baryonic matter in both its neutral and ionised phases. This research aims in particular at characterising the baryonic content of clusters of galaxies and intergalactic filaments. He also works in the study of radio and microwave Galactic foregrounds, in both intensity and polarisation, with the QUIJOTE experiment; this research is relevant to characterise Galactic regions of interest and for cleaning future CMB maps from nearby contaminants.
