Promoting a Positive Attitude Towards Peer Observation Through Competency-Based Peer Observation

Activity: Talk or presentationPresentation at conference/workshop/seminar

Description

Peer observations can be seen to be a ‘box-ticking’ exercise, however a positive attitude to
peer observations based on evidencing professional competencies can help to foster a
collaborative environment among colleagues, develop critical reflective practice, and
demonstrate the commitment of a department to enhancing teaching and learning (Gosling,
2013; Lane et al., 2020; Sullivan et al., 2010). Led by three of XJTLU’s BALEAP TEAP
Observers, this presentation will highlight how SoL colleagues’ enthusiatic engagement with
competency-based criteria in peer observations has led to valuable professional
development.
