Activity: Talk or presentationPresentation at conference/workshop/seminar

Description

Embark on an enlightening educational journey with us as we navigate the dynamic landscape of Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL), aligning with the sustainability goals of quality education (SDG4), reduced inequality (SDG10), and partnerships (SDG17). This workshop encapsulates invaluable practices and insights derived from a collaborative cross-disciplinary venture with the Durban University of Technology (DUT) in South Africa. The session explores the multifaceted dimensions of conducting a COIL virtual exchange project, emphasizing sustainability goals, nurturing students' global perspectives, cultivating reflective skills, fostering heightened engagement within language classes, and advancing intercultural communicative competence (ICC). This China-South Africa cross-cultural project introduces fresh perspectives into language teaching in a globalized and digitalized era, significantly contributing to the development of global citizens. Additionally, the workshop focuses on the evolving role of teachers amidst rapid technological advancements. The integration of diverse disciplines, such as English for Academic Purposes (XJTLU) and Radiography (DUT), coupled with the inclusion of students from varied cultural backgrounds and English proficiency levels, has sparked a blend of perspectives. The objective of this workshop is not only to enrich the language teaching landscape but also to enhance students' intercultural communicative competence (ICC) across transdisciplinary contexts.
