Principal Investigator in the Research Project "Mapping the Languages of Indigenous Clans in the Eastern Spice Islands", funded by the Directorate of Cultural Development and Utilization, Directorate General of Culture, Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia (Jakarta, Java, Indonesia).
The Project (which involves Language Documentation on the field, Linguistic Anthropology, Cultural Anthropology, the study of local oral traditions, and archival & cartographic research) aims at a comprehensive linguistic mapping of the endangered and relatively undocumented languages of the Maluku Islands (and surrounding areas), with a specific focus on maritime trade routes (for spices) and related specialized terminology. The ultimate goal, besides the development of an interactive and digital linguistic and historical map (open-access and constantly updated) of the archipelago and academic publications, is to get the Spice Routes and Spice Islands of Indonesia recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage Site.
