Description
In this urbanising world, cities are facing transformations that threaten our collective future. Today, the climate emergency has transformed global agendas and has become a crucial vector of urban thinking. Moreover, issues including mobility, migrations, and emergencies mean that cities must confront challenges that have a direct impact on urban design and public spaces but for which there are no clear answers yet. The effect of technological transformations is also a factor that can directly intervene in urban realities. All these challenges reveal the need to think about the role of architecture and urban planning today if we are to design cities that will be prepared for these uncertain futures. This debate takes place in the programming for the presentation at the University of Xi’a Jiatong and the University of Tongji of the Centre of Contemporary Culture of Barcelona’s “Polis: 8 Learning from the European Prize for Urban Public Space”. This exhibition presents the best works selected by the European Prize for Urban Public Space, which recognises the creation, recovery, and improvement of public spaces in Europe. The debate is co-organised with the University of Xi’a Jiatong and the University of Tongji with support from the Instituto Cervantes – Shanghai.Period | 10 Apr 2025 |
