It seems that the world has a construction crisis. The inability to house people satisfactorily is one that affects all major nations. In the last five years, in the West, often the answer is not to build more… but to find excuses to justify building less. Will this mindset come to China? Should we build smaller buildings? Should we build more efficiently? Should we build new buildings, or should we re-use and re-purpose old, and existing ones? Should we build less? Or is the idea of “degrowth” simply an excuse for an inability to build enough?
