Description
This workshop aims to introduce educators to the transformative potential of Generative AI (GenAI) in fostering student autonomy. The primary objectives are to familiarize teachers with various ways in which GenAI can assist students in their studies, demonstrate practical uses, and provide hands-on experience with creating and utilizing GenAI prompts for personalized learning. The workshop will begin by discussing best practices and general principles for the effective and ethical use of GenAI in education. This will be followed by demonstrations of practical student applications, such as creating an IELTS tutor, generating study materials, and developing personalized study guides. Participants will then engage in hands-on experimentation, working in small groups to explore different GenAI prompts which can be used to develop student autonomy. The workshop will conclude with a summary of key takeaways and a Q&A session, allowing participants to ask questions and engage in further discussion. Expected outcomes include a deeper understanding of how GenAI can support student autonomy, practical strategies for integrating GenAI into teaching practices, and a set of effective GenAI prompts for classroom use.
