Activity: Talk or presentation › Presentation at conference/workshop/seminar
Description
In an increasingly unpredictable world, our learners need the competence to work more volitionally and regulate their own learning effectively both inside and outside of the classroom. Therefore, more than ever, learner autonomy plays a pivotal role in students’ academic and future career success. To develop learner autonomy, as language teachers, we may incorporate relevant, authentic sources and materials to engage students in their language learning. From a pedagogical perspective, the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are meaningful and practical resources for language teachers to explore, adapt and utilize. This session will explore the concept of learner autonomy, highlight features of autonomous learners, and discuss approaches to develop learner autonomy through the integration of the UN SDGs as learning topics in the EAP module.
