Assessing Engagement & Effectiveness of H5P Materials for Flipped Learning in a Content-based EAP Course

Description

H5P software was used to create interactive video and workbook materials forLAN010 students to tackle issues of engagement and cognitive overload, and to increase the effectiveness of their pre-class learning. This mixed method study used LMO analytics and a survey to gauge the success of the intervention and student perceptions of the materials. The results were very encouraging as most students found the materials to be more engaging than traditional out of class activities, effective in increasing their confidence, providing study structure and improving memory retention. The survey also yielded a wealth of suggestions for improvements and future research
