N2 - The mechanical and thermal properties of HDPE/NBR/RHP composites as well as NaOH treatment on RHP filler performances on HDPE/NBR/RHP composites were studied. The composites were melt mixed using heated two roll mill at 180 °C with speed of 15 rpm for six different RHP filler loadings (70/30/0, 70/30/5, 70/30/10, 70/30/15, 70/30/20, and 70/30/30 weight %). The mechanical, thermal and morphological properties of HDPE/NBR/RHP composites as well as NaOH treatment on RHP filler performances on HDPE/NBR/RHP composites were investigated. The results showed that the composites with NaOH treated RHP has better tensile properties than composites with untreated RHP. The scanning electron microscopy (SEM) study of tensile fracture surfaces of the composites also indicates improved adhesion of RHP filler with HDPE/NBR matrices with the presence of NaOH treatment. FTIR results showed the presence of NaOH treatment with acetic anhydride.
