Abstract

Recent advances in the development of an automated simulation platform for two dimensional axisymmetric circuit breaker configurations has made it possible to simulate different arcing processes towards a systematic study of the influences of design parameters on the performance of high voltage circuit breakers. In the present work the influence of different design parameters, such as the expansion volume size and length of PTFE nozzle, etc. is studied and its implication towards real system operation discussed. Recent work on arc turbulence modelling is also reported.
