Abstract

Using trans-[NH2Me2][Ru(η2-ox)2(H2O)2]·4H2O 1 as starting material, as well as its original preparation as a guide, the synthesis of trans-[NH2Me2][Ru(η2-ox)2(PPh3)2] 2, trans-[pyH][Ru(η2-ox)2(H2O)2]·4H2O 3, trans-[pyH][Ru(η2-ox)2(py)2]·2·.5H2O 4, [Ru(η2-ox)(py)4]·4CHCl3 5 and fac-[Ru(η2-ox)(DMSO-S)3(DMSO-O)]·1.34H2O 6 are outlined. Complexes 2–6 have been characterized using elemental analysis, IR, UV-visible, 1H NMR, and X-ray diffraction. In addition, their electrochemical behaviour has been analyzed using cyclic and Osteryoung square-wave voltammetries with complex 6 displaying linkage isomerization.
