Abstract

This paper reports the preliminary findings from fieldwork in a large resettlement neighbourhood of landless farmers where the total population has grown to five times its original size. The assessment includes a consideration of the demographic, household and family structure of the community, the physical condition and issues of the neighbourhood, neighbourhood attachment and interaction, sense of community and community activity, the existing administrative and management structure and other related issues. The conclusion shows that quality of public open space is a crucial factor in developing a more flourishing neighbourhood life.
