Abstract

Face meshes have been used for 3D face recognition. However, to obtain a good recognition rate, fine meshes that require many data points are needed. In this paper, it is proposed using a non-uniform face mesh to perform 3D face recognition. A few types of non-uniform face meshes with each of them having a different shaped fine mesh area were built. Simulation results obtained shows that a T-Shape non-uniform face mesh, which consists of a fine mesh in the eyes, nose and mouth area and coarse mesh in the rest of the face is able to produce good recognition rates while having small number of data points.
