Two new covalently linked functional model compounds for the Fe(a3)/Cu(B) active sites of heme-copper oxidases have been prepared and characterized by novel synthetic methodologies; the X-ray structure of the Zn form and the electrocatalytic reduction of O2 by the Fe/Cu forms are reported.
