Abstract

In this paper, the behavior of substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) with conventional defected ground structures has been studied and compared their performance in terms of size reduction, quality factor, and filter selectivity. Various dumbbell-shaped defected ground structures (DB-DGS) have been investigated with SIW having filtering characteristics at 3-dB cutoff at 2 GHz by keeping the same dimension for all structures. This article holds good studies for beginners in filter designing. For comparative analysis, all the simulations have been carried out using HFSS 19.1.
