N2 - The accurate detection and automatic control of liquid level has a positive effect on the safety of production as well as the quality and cost of products. For a long time, however, this problem has not yet been solved satisfactorily, because of the restriction of the physical and chemical properties of the measured medium and the condition of circumstances. This paper presents a new method of detecting liquid levels on-line accurately and of following them up automatically, in terms of refractivity of liquid boundary. This method, solving the problem in question perfectly and having a series of advantages, therefore, is at present applied widely.
