Abstract

Many recent researches in telecommunication area take lots of attentions to long range dependence (LRD) in traffic. The impact of LRD on queuing performance from a lot of simulation experiments which are designed carefully is studied. Some conclusions are drawn different with those in former papers, and the reasons why those papers gave that kind of doubtful ideas are analyzed. The results indicate that the correlation characteristic of traffic is very important, and the short range dependence is a more dominant characteristic than LRD.
