N2 - The rapid development of emerging technologies in the areas of traditional mechanical machinery, electronic engineering and advanced micro-processors, has brought a great opportunity for the development and applications of biomedical engineering instruments with robot technology in traditional medicine. At the same time, because of the progress of human civilisation and improvement of living standards, people have higher and more critical requirements to the bio-medical technology. Under these circumstances, researchers from all over the world have made fruitful achievements in promoting the development of medical robots, medical automation and robotic manipulation. Medical robot engineering is a discipline which applies the latest results of research and development to the medical treatment and rehabilitation. This paper reviews a range of widely-used applications of the micro-robot and rehabilitation robots to provide an overview and understanding of the current development in this area.
