Abstract

This paper reports a distinctive massive open online course (MOOC) that has animated videos as its major contents for learning and teaching of semiconductor devices. In comparison with the traditional classroom teaching approach, animations are used for visualizing semiconductor concepts and device structures. The animated videos are segmented into video clips of duration of 5 minutes or so, according to the sub-topics covered. Apart from the MOOC for self-learning, the fairly independent animated videos clips have been useful in formal teaching delivery of courses in semiconductor devices and other related EEE courses, either as flipped classroom or supplementary teaching materials. With the pandemic constraints to educational activities, these animated videos are versatile for learning and teaching and almost freely accessible by learners of anywhere.
