Abstract

Current handling capability and frequency response have become the major concerns for the selection of dc bus capacitor in Electric Vehicle Inverter. A low-inductance high-frequency film capacitor is then proposed to replace the conventional electrolytic bulk capacitors. This paper describes the modeling of the PWM AC drive with major parasitic elements in device modules, passive components, leads, and interconnects. Simulation and experimental results are shown to verify the need of the proposed capacitor.
