abstract = "Beijing intends to host a 'Green Olympics' to reflect China's push for sustainable development throughout 21 century. To realize the theme, 'Green Olympics', priorities have been given to environmental protection in the planning, designing and construction of Olympics venues and facilities. A large number of buildings have been demolished and 19 stadiums and other projects to be built, which in turn would have caused tremendous increase of construction waste generation. This paper presents an overview of the difficulties and challenges encountered while managing construction waste for the projects developed for Beijing's 2008 Olympics. It also provides a detailed discussion of special systems to be used to manage construction activities generated waste. The focus then, is on the controlling measures adopted to better manage construction waste to realize 'Green Olympics' in terms of waste management.",
