Dr. Yasunori Sakai is an Assistant Professor at Xian Jiaotong-Liverpool University. He has held academic positions at Tokyo Institute of Technology, Shibaura Institute of Technology, the University of British Columbia, and others, contributing to research and education in manufacturing and systems engineering.

He received his Ph.D. in Mechanical and Control Systems Engineering from the Tokyo Institute of Technology 2015. Dr. Sakai is also a licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in Japan. He holds a Master’s degree in Bio-Application and Systems Engineering and a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical System Engineering from Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology. 

His research focuses on functional material applications, tribology, vibration control, manufacturing process analysis, and system engineering. Dr. Sakai has received multiple awards, including the Young Engineers Award from the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers (2019) and the Suematsu Award (Young Researcher Award) from the Tokyo Institute of Technology (2017).
