Personal profile

Dr. Huixin (Elsa) Zhong is an Assistant Professor at the Enterprise-Industrial College, Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University. She earned her Ph.D. from the University of Bath’s Center for Doctoral Training in Accountable, Responsible, and Transparent AI, fully funded by a scholarship from UKRI and the University of Bath. Her doctoral research focused on human-AI collective decision-making and interdisciplinary AI governance, integrating perspectives from AI, psychology, behavioral economics, and law.

Dr. Zhong's research has been published in several conferences and journals in the field of AI. Notably, her work on AI governance was featured as an oral presentation at AAAI (CCF-A), and she was also invited to write a perspective article on the EU AI Act for AI Magazine (SCI). Her research interests lie in AI ethics and governance, with a particular focus on interdisciplinary AI governance mechanisms and auditing, human-AI collective decision-making, and machine psychology, especially concerning large language models (LLMs).

Dr. Zhong is seeking collaborators, research assistants, and expressions of interest from students considering pursuing a Ph.D. starting in 2026. Ideal candidates may have backgrounds in psychology, AI, behavioral economics, law, or related fields. While an interdisciplinary background is a plus, it is not a requirement—Dr. Zhong is committed to mentoring and guiding students to become multidisciplinary experts. Her ultimate goal is to train future leaders, enablers, facilitators, and practitioners for the era of human-AI coexistence.
