Alan McCluskey is a lecturer in English literature. His primary areas of interest revolve around themes of ethics, ethnicity, race and cosmopolitanism in contemporary literature.Dr. McCluskeys first book, Materiality and the Modern Cosmopolitan Novel (Palgrave, 2015), explores some of the ways in which cosmopolitan values and ideas manifest themselves in works of literature derived from various contexts.His most recent publications include an essay examining tone and polpyhony in Moby-Dick and a study of the recent changes to the image of the Neanderthals in mainstream science and popular media. He is currently working on his second book.
