Excessive urban expansion and accelerated urban rhythm led to insufficient community cohesion. There is a theory of using urban devices to enhance community cohesion. Still, there is a lack of reasonable explanations for the idea and a lack of comparisons between the enhancement effects of different urban devices. This paper provides a reasonable explanation for the theory of using urban devices to enhance community cohesion through theoretical derivation. This paper investigates the potential relationship between urban devices' ability to attract crowds and urban community cohesion and summarises the underlying mathematical relationship. Based on this mathematical relationship, this paper investigates a contrasting method. The power of urban devices to attract crowds is analysed by designing an image analysis algorithm. The above mathematical relationship is used to transform it into the potential enhancement ability of urban devices to community cohesion to compare the effect of different urban devices in enhancing community cohesion. And applying this comparison method, the most suitable urban devices are obtained to achieve the goal of improving community cohesion. The conclusions obtained in this study can be used to promote further and improve the theory that urban devices enhance community cohesion. The rationale for the approach developed in this paper for using devices to enhance cohesion can help urban planners understand this idea and apply it effectively to the urban design process. The urban electronic digital device with interactivity found in this paper is an urban device that is superior in enhancing community cohesion. This research result can help urban planners design more reasonable urban devices in future urban design work. At the same time, the comparative methods obtained from the research in this paper can provide a way to evaluate the enhancement of community cohesion by urban devices. This method can help urban planners compare the effect of different urban devices in enhancing community cohesion in their environment to choose urban devices that can better strengthen community cohesion.Period | Jul 2022 |
