Abstract

This paper presents a compact printed dual-band antenna combined with an Artificial Magnetic Conductor (AMC) array for wearable applications. The proposed antenna operates at 2.45 GHz and 5.8 GHz, benefitting from an AMC to improve gain and reduce Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) values. The combined antenna and AMC structure has dimensions of 50×50×5.02mm3. The antenna realized gain is 4.22 dBi at 2.45 GHz and 9.09 dBi at 5.8 GHz. The 1 g and 10 g tissue SAR values are 0.16 W/kg and 0.1 W/kg at 2.45 GHz and 0.23 W/kg and 0.1 W/kg at 5.8 GHz. These results indicate that the proposed dual-band antenna with AMC, is suitable for wearable applications. The AMC enhances antenna gain and reduces the radiation exposure to the human body, making it a promising solution for on-body applications.
