Abstract

Ripple Screens is a series of space dividers, inspired by the natural flow of water, exploring the possibilities of robotic 3D printing in design expression. By using partially recycled materials for 3D printing, the sense of water flow is solidified into undulating surfaces. These surfaces are arranged within a landscape that simulates the rise and fall of water waves, unfolding in rhythm with the ripples, as if they were ripples flowing in still water. The surface textures, illuminated by light, create dynamic and shifting shadow effects, fostering a tranquil and steady spatial experience that evokes a sense of calm and contemplation within the viewer. The delicate surface textures intertwine with the winding terrain, blurring the boundaries between solid and liquid, stillness and movement, forming an atmosphere of stillness within motion and motion within stillness.
