N2 - Based on the theory of forward and inversion, forward and inversion methods are studied respectively. Firstly, the magnetotelluric forward and inversion problems are analyzed, and the development and classification of the forward and inversion methods are summarized. Secondly, the principle and procedure of the different methods are described briefly, and the advantages, limitations and enhancement methods are comparatively analyzed. Finally, the trend of the forward and inversion methods are pointed in the future. The three-dimensional forward modeling methods and the global optimization and nonlinear inversion methods will become the main development trend.
