Abstract
The essay explores the phenomenon of resettlement in China after the Reform from an urban planning and design point of view, which has not been systematically examined at the neighborhood level so far. The essay explore the relation between the economic growth-oriented context which favored efficiency-based strategies, the regulations for residential areas, and the continuity of the planning models, the characters of the urban re-settlements. Considering the case of Suzhou Industrial Park in the Yangtze River delta, the essay illustrates how the phenomenon of resettlement happened and what are the challenges at present.
