Abstract

'Contours of Waves, Currents and Winds: The Steadfast Souls of Cherating’s Women' reveals the intertwined stories and quiet strength of the women who shape and are shaped by Cherating’s coast, surfers, makers, and keepers of place. Through the lenses of Nurul Atiqah Ismail and Siti Balkish Roslan, the exhibition captures moments where waves become gestures, winds bear witness, and currents speak of endurance. Each frame is an encounter between softness and strength, where the sea is not merely a backdrop but an intimate interlocutor. Hosted at Kedai Tepi Pantai, a women-owned coastal space, the exhibition celebrates the ocean as a reflection of feminine resilience, gentle, resolute, and ever in motion.
