Abstract
To address the mismatching issues in photovoltaic (PV) module and sub-module level, distributed power processing (DPP) displays advantages in power-improvement and efficiency. There are two main methods utilized in DPP converter, e.g. voltage equalization (VE) and true maximum power point tracking (MPPT), based on which multi typologies are explored. However, the experiment conducted in previous research almost focused on the efficiency in particular mismatch condition, while the performances under real irradiation and temperature were rarely studied. In this paper, an algorithm is developed in MATLAB to quantify performance of different DPP typologies with daily irradiation and temperature under different mismatching conditions to measure performance of different DPP architectures. The comparison is conducted, including processed power under mismatching conditions, output powers, efficiency and total power losses. The PV-to-bus architecture shows the best adaptability under all conditions, whereas the (Seirs-Resonant Voltage Multiplier) SRVM shows the worst performance under severely shaded condition.
