Abstract
CHBL’s proposal reimagines the Shan Shui triad of mountains, water, and clouds as a poetic cultural landscape for the future of Hangzhou. At its center, the Cloud Roof hovers lightly above three venues—the Exhibition Hall, the Art Center, and the Event Venue—gathered around a sheltered public plaza. Situated on a green island framed by the canal and the Qiantang River, the ensemble embodies the harmony of city and nature. Rising upward, the “Walking on the Clouds” bridge links the buildings and guides visitors through the cloud itself, offering luminous paths and sweeping views. Together, they form an iconic, adaptable landmark of cultural vitality.
