Abstract
Policy analysis is a structured approach to examining public policies to achieve an insightful understanding of their development, execution and effects (Weimer & Vining, 2025). The process includes identifying and clarifying the issue that the policy seeks to tackle; determining the goals and desired outcomes of the policy; exploring various solutions to the problem; establishing metrics such as efficiency, equity, and feasibility to compare options; analyzing the potential economic, social, and political impacts of each alternative, and providing evidence-based recommendations for policymakers (Dunn, 2017). The goal of policy analysis is to assess the costs, benefits, trade-offs and impacts of various policy alternatives to guide decision-making and enhance outcomes.
