Abstract

B cells are emerging as regulators of physiology beyond humoral immunity. Mao et al. show that B cell-derived TGF-β1 induces a hepatic GLS2/SLC7A5 glutamine-handling program that sustains circulating and skeletal muscle glutamate levels, thereby supporting skeletal muscle calcium signaling and mitochondrial fitness and ultimately enhancing physical performance.
