Abstract

The development of organization theory is affected by system science and system methodology, which can be seen from the developmental course of HeXie theory. The focus of organization study has changed from structure to process since system theory was brought to organization field. Although time is the fundamental element of process, it is still under-studied in organization study. Combining system theory with temporal lens, the paper explores a new framework (i.e. rhythm model) to understand the organizational process. Thus, studying the time issues rather than simply abstract system analysis carried HeXie theory to a new stage, and promoted the application of system theory in organization field.
