Abstract
Fossil fuel reserve throughout the world was projected to only last for 40 years for oil, 60 years for natural gas and 20 decades for coal. This projection has prompted alternative energy researchers to advance into renewable energy. Among most manufactured solar cells, The Dye sensitized solar cell is in the 3rd generation of the family. This paper presents the fabrication of Dye sensitized solar cell with dye from Keriang and Pucuk merah fruit. The TiO2 electrode with a thickness of 10 μm is used to immersed into the dye. The cell was tested under a solar simulator with standard test condition. The results show that the Keriang dye has the photo to electrical efficiency of 1.16 % while the Pucuk Merah dye shows 0.89%. The data shows that the bonding of anthocyanin pigment in particular the carboxyl and hydroxyl group to the TiO2 molecules were successful.
