Abstract
Building Information Modeling (BIM), the Internet of Things (IoT), and Big Data are widely applied in the green building industry (GBI) due to the rapid digital revolution. The vast amount of data generated by BIM and IoT offers significant value when integrated with advanced storage and analysis technologies, such as Big Data. Currently, BIM, IoT, and Big Data integration in the GBI remains nascent. This research aims to develop a Big Data-based framework to store and address context-based data from BIM and time-series data from IoT. The proposed framework illustrates a data exchange model among BIM, IoT, and Big Data, which is validated through a use case at a university in Suzhou, China. Subsequently, digital management strategies are delineated for facility managers to enhance the energy efficiency of green buildings (GB). This framework serves as a cornerstone for understanding the application of digital technologies in the GBI, offering insights into prospective research areas such as data exchange, smart construction, and energy management. The tangible implementation of the framework can bolster the digital transformation and sustainable progression of the GBI.
