Abstract

In Electric Vehicle (EV) Drive Voltage Source Inverter (VSI), Dc-link capacitor can be primarily designed on RMS current value and its capacitance can be selected small values cause of bulky equivalent capacitor in battery. An advanced film capacitor is adopted to replace the conventional electrolytic bulk capacitors. This paper describes the PSpice model of VSI with major parasitic parameters and the development of an 80kW VSI. Simulation and experimental results are shown to verify the need of the selected capacitor.
