Abstract

“19 Memos” is a <generative> documentary project along with generative visuals, it documents multiple vital events/cases about Covid-19 infection from 2019 to 2022 along with (y)our changing attitudes behind. It consists of three synchronized webpages including a multimedia documentary page and two other pages synchronously generate dynamic abstract painting as artistic visualization of the social observation. The documentary page runs a hard-coded system as a metaphor to simulate the human crowds and behavior, and remixes generative visuals with news images, edited interview video clips and soundtracks.
It highlights on the different stage of infection and cure and displays the corresponding image, sound, and video clips when the simulated infection or cure happens. The other two highlight the specific moment and record the journey of infection and cure and “paint” them in two sets of visual elements and language. In the past three years, we experienced and suffered when facing the global sanitary and social crisis. When it’s all gone and before we move to next page, there are more worth documenting.
